Barney, the toy-like dinosaur character, is set to make a comeback to the screen with the unveiling of the new animation series Barney’s World. Produced by Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana and Mattel Television Studios, the new show comprises 52 episodes lasting 11 minutes each and will premiere on October 14 on Max. Later, Cartoon Network will also premiere it starting October 18. Featuring the popular character in what marks his first television series in over a decade, Barney’s World follows the adventures of Barney (Jonathan Langdon) alongside dinos Baby Bop (Bryn McAuley) and Billy (Jonathan Tan) and their kid besties Mel (Diana Tsoy), Vivie (Ella Paciocco), and David (Jayd Deroche). With music- and action-filled adventures, Barney aids the kids in exploring major preschool emotions, which teaches them the way to love not just themselves but also others in their community.
According to Mattel and Warner Bros. Discovery, some episodes of the show will be accessible through YouTube in select nations after it premieres on the platform on October 11.
Barney made his debut in the show Barney and Friends, which ran for 14 seasons on multiple networks internationally from 1988 to 2010.
