Actor Anya Taylor-Joy has expressed her wish to be a part of the live-action adaptation of Frozen and that her dream role would be Elsa.
"It would be very fun to shoot ice out of your hand,” Taylor-Joy told Vogue Hong Kong. “Also, you’d just be the favorite at every kid’s birthday party. All of my siblings have children now, so I would love for them to be able to say 'my auntie is Elsa.' That would be pretty sick."
She continued, "I would love to do a musical because I’m a bit addicted to hard work. I like having an impossible mountain to climb. The idea of having to be able to sing, dance, and act at the same time would just really thrill me."
Ever since she mentioned that in the interview, fans were quick to point out the similarities between her facial features and Elsa's. "I had a meeting with a director who had a young daughter who was three and she loved Frozen and he asked me if she could come over and I could pretend," Taylor-Joy previously told BBC Radio One. "And I did the whole thing. And watching this little girl’s face...she was so excited…she thought I was gonna freeze the place," the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga added.
Although there has been a never-ending discussion among fans regarding a live-action adaptation of Frozen, it has never been confirmed by Disney. Recently, at the D23 Expo, Disney unveiled the concept artwork for Frozen 3.
It was also announced that Frozen 3 will aim for a 2027 release. The animated franchise, which is said to be inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's 1844 fairy tale The Snow Queen, has raked up more than 2.7 billion USD at the box office. It consists of a voice cast led by Kristen Bell as Anna, Idina Menzel as Elsa, Jonathan Groff as Kristoff, and Josh Gad as the sentient snowman Olaf.
