Ke Huy Quan, who recently made a Hollywood resurgence with his Oscar-winning role in Everything Everywhere All at Once, is set to continue his action star journey. He has signed on to lead Fairytale in New York, an action thriller helmed by Sisu director Jalmari Helander.

Produced by Beau Flynn, known for action hits like Red Notice, Jungle Cruise, and Black Adam, the project will be developed under his production company, FlynnPictureCo. Lionsgate will handle international sales for Fairytale in New York at AFM.

With a script from Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, the story takes place on Christmas Eve in New York City. Quan stars as a humble cab driver taking one final fare before reuniting with his estranged son for the holiday. However, a confrontation with a criminal gang leads him into a relentless mission to retrieve his son’s treasured Christmas gift.

Scott Sheldon of FlynnPictureCo. is on board as executive producer, with Shelby Thomas managing the production for the company. Lionsgate’s James Myers and Dan Freedman are overseeing the project and handling studio negotiations.

Known for his roles in The Goonies and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom during the 1980s, Quan took a 19-year break from acting, during which he worked as a stunt choreographer on films like 2000’s X-Men.
