Sequel to Martin Lawrence starrer Blue Streak in development

After Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Martin Lawrence and Sony Pictures are teaming up to bring back another classic comedy. Reports reveal that a second part to the buddy comedy film Blue Streak is in the works. Cole Maliska has been tapped to pen the screenplay, although the project is still in its early stages without any other talent attached at this time.

Lawrence will produce the film through his production company, Run Tel Dat, alongside Robert Lawrence, Rae Proctor, Stacy Lyles, Toby Jaffe, and RDV Films.

The original Blue Streak, released in 1999, stars Lawrence as a jewel thief who, after leaving a diamond at a police station, disguises himself as a detective and partners with a real cop (Luke Wilson) to investigate a series of burglaries. The film debuted at the top of the North American box office and grossed nearly $120 million worldwide.

Lawrence is working on You All know What It Is, his comedy tour that will run until next March.
