Your friendly neighborhood superhero is coming back once again! Actor Tom Holland has confirmed during The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that Spider-Man 4 "is happening" and that it will go on floors "next summer." Speculation has been rife about Spider-Man 4, and Fallon asked Holland to put an end to it with an update. Holland first attempted to tease the host by asking "What do you want to know?" Jimmy then asked Holland about the project, and the latter confirmed it.
The confirmation comes a few days since Holland himself teased the screenplay for the upcoming feature film on the Rich Roll Podcast. He hinted at Peter Parker's return as he deals with a world in which nobody remembers his identity as a superhero. On the podcast, Holland also revealed that he read the screenplay with Zendaya and that they had priceless reactions.
"We have working on it now, we have a creative and a pitch and a draft which is excellent, it leads work but the writers are doing a great job. I read it 3 weeks ago and it really like lit a fire in me. Zendaya and I sat down and read it together and we at times were bouncing around the living room, like this is a real movie worthy of fans’ respect. There’s a few things we need to figure out before we can get that really going but it’s exciting and I’m really excited about it," Holland said.
He went on to add, "I’d love to one day, if I’d be lucky enough to somehow bring Miles Morales into my Spider-Man universe and into the MCU. I’d love to do it for a young kid."
However, neither Holland nor the makers has confirmed Zendaya's return to the franchise.
Destin Daniel Cretton of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings fame is attached to direct the film.
