Suriya on his pre-Soorarai Pottru days: One of my lowest times

Suriya, who is awaiting the release of Kanguva, talked about the challenges that actors come across and how he coped with a low point in his career. He discussed the pressure that actors always face to remain "relevant" in a field that is evolving. Talking to ANI, he gave insights into how a successful actor can sometimes feel uncertain.

"I think every actor will go through that. Every time, you would want to be relevant. You keep fighting to be relevant. Every five years, the whole generation is changing. If I keep talking about Kaakha Kaakha or Ghajini, most of this generation wouldn't have watched Ghajini. But I still have to be relevant to the audience. So every time, you only pray for films that will be relevant," stated Suriya.

He also discussed his struggle with his love for films at a period before the release of his commercially successful feature Soorarai Pottru, also known as Udaan in Hindi.

"One of my lowest times happened before Soorarai Pottru (Udaan) and I was hoping and wishing like, how can I change my image or know how to again fall in love with cinema? How can I again be happy being in front of the camera? And that's when I, it was a blessing I got Sudha as my director and we got the Udaan script," Suriya stated.

Discussing audience expectations, the Kanguva star stated that filmmakers should deliver unique theatrical experiences for viewers.

"You know, the audience, they are not going to take a regular film, a regular mainstream film which will have the regular hero-villain angle and the regular emotions. We have to bring them to theatres. It has to be something a little more eye-popping, something which will make them leave their house."

Suriya's film with director Siva, Kanguva, is slated for a November 14 release in theatres.

Reportedly set 1,500 years ago, Kanguva also stars Bobby Deol, Disha Patani, Natty, Yogi Babu, Jagapathi Babu, Kovai Sarala, Ananda, and Redin Kingsley.
