The cast of the upcoming film Roofman is getting bigger with the addition of actor Peter Dinklage. He will join Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst in the crime drama, written and directed by Derek Cianfrance.
The film is based on the true story of Jeffrey Manchester, an inmate on the run who hides in a toy store where no one would find him. When this paradise of fun becomes a prison of loneliness, he falls for the one thing that can stop him from getting away...love.
Details regarding Dinklage's role has been kept under wraps. Dunst meanwhile stars in Roofman as a staff member at the store who struggles to make a living for herself and her girls, Lindsay and Dee.
An erstwhile American Army Reserve officer, the real life Jeffrey was convicted and sent to jail in 2000. However, he broke out of jail and evaded the cops for months at a toy store in North Carolina. He was captured again after he left his fingerprints on a DVD of Steven Spielberg film Catch Me If You Can, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as a con artist. The film will revolve around the robber's months-long escapade.
Jamie Patricof of Hunting Lane and Lynette Howell Taylor of 51 Entertainment, who are longtime collaborators of Cianfrance will be bankrolling the film alongside Alex Orlovsky and Duncan Montgomery for High Frequency Entertainment and Dylan Sellers for Limelight.
The executive producers of Roofman are Tatum, Cianfrance and Jonathan Montepare and also limelight's Chris Parker. Jonathan Glickman, Becky Sloviter, and Thom Zadra of Miramax, as well as Jack Selby, Sam Romano, and Rick Covert of High Frequency, are executive producers along with Charles Barsamian.
Dinklage was recently seen in the Amazon MGM Studios comedy Brothers opposite Josh Brolin and Brendan Fraser.
