Michael Emerson is set to join his wife, Carrie Preston, on CBS’ Elsbeth as a recurring guest star this season. The announcement, made during the Elsbeth panel at New York Comic-Con, revealed that Emerson will first appear in the December 12 episode.
Known for his roles in Lost and Person of Interest, Emerson will portray Judge Milton Crawford, a haughty, soft-spoken character from a prestigious New England family of public servants. His character will serve as a foil to Preston’s character, Elsbeth Tascioni.
The couple has shared the screen before, including on Person of Interest. Their collaboration on Elsbeth is a natural fit as it comes from Robert and Michelle King, the creators behind Emerson’s previous series, Evil, as well as The Good Wife and The Good Fight.
During the New York Comic-Con panel, moderated by series guest star Laura Benanti, a sneak peek of the upcoming Halloween episode was shown, followed by a discussion with co-creators and executive producers Robert and Michelle King, showrunner Jonathan Tolins, and cast members including Preston and Wendell Pierce. Emerson later joined the panel to share the news of his involvement.
Elsbeth, produced by CBS Studios, stars Preston as the unconventional attorney Elsbeth Tascioni, who works with the NYPD to solve high-profile murder cases using her unique perspective. The cast also includes Wendell Pierce as Captain Wagner and Carra Patterson as Officer Kaya Blanke.
Emerson, a two-time Emmy winner, has also starred in The Practice, Evil, and Person of Interest, with additional credits in The Name of the Rose, The Laramie Project, Saw, and more.
