On Thursday, it was reported that Liam Payne, a former member of the boyband One Direction, had tragically died at the age of 31 after falling from a third-floor hotel room in Buenos Aires. The band had included Payne, Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik and sold over 70 million records worldwide, becoming one of the best-selling bands.

On Friday, Payne's fellow band member, Zayn Malik, penned a note mourning his death. Zayn posted a picture of them hugging from what looks like their One Direction days and posted a long note. "Liam, I have found myself talking out loud to you, hoping you can hear me, I can't help but think selfishly that there was so many more conversations for us to have in our lives. I never got to thank you for supporting me through some of the most difficult times in my life. When I was missing home as a 17 yr old kid you would always be there with a positive outlook and reassuring smile and let me know you were my friend and that I was loved."

The note continued to highlight that Payne was headstrong, and Zayn secretly respected him for having been at loggerheads at times. Zayn went on to say that he lost a brother and that he will cherish their memories together.

An autopsy revealed that Payne was intoxicated with alcohol and drugs at the time of his fall.
