
The first trailer for The Monkey, directed by Osgood Perkins has been released by Neon. The film, based on the eponymous 1980 short story by Stephen King, is all set to hit theatres on February 21.
The film revolves around twins Hall and Bill, both played by actor Theo James, who find their father's old cursed toy in the attic. As it leads to gruesome deaths, they try to get rid of the toy. Years later, the deaths resurface, forcing the twins to come back once again to kill the toy once and for all.
According to The Monkey's new redband teaser, the toy is a an otherworldly beast with the power to kill anyone. "Whoever controls it, controls life and death," James tells us in voiceover. "And those deaths are really f****d up."
Christian Convery, Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, Colin O'Brien, Rohan Campbell, and Sarah Levy round out the cast of The Monkey. Backed by Atomic Monster, C2 Motion, Picture Group, Range, Oddfellows Entertainment, Black Bear Pictures, and Stars Collective Films, the film is distributed by Neon.
