The European Film Academy has announced the films nominated in the best animated feature category at the European Film Awards. The films are Gints Zilbalodis’ Flow, Claude Barras’ Savages, Kristina Dufková’s Living Large, Isabel Herguera’s Sultana’s Dream, as well as Fernando Trueba and Javier Mariscal’s They Shot the Piano Player.
Premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival, Flow bagged the audience and main jury awards at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
Living Large and Sultana's Dream won the Contrechamp Jury Award and Contrechamp Award, respectively, at the Annecy film festival.
Barras earned an Oscar nomination in 2017 for his animation film My Life as a Zucchini with Max Karli. On the other hand, Savages premiered in the Competition section at Annecy, besides the Locarno Film Festival.
Trueba and Mariscal earned Academy Award nominations in 2012 for their film Chico and Rita. Belle Epoque, the live-action film of Trueba, won the 1994 Best International Feature Oscar.
The European Film Academy will reveal the nominations for the best film, actress actor, documentary, and screenwriter on November 05.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place on December 07 in Lucerne, Switzerland.
