Warner Bros has released the first teaser trailer for Companion, starring Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid in lead roles.
Written and directed by Drew Hancock, known for My Dead Ex and Suburgatory, Companion also stars Lukas Gage, Megan Suri, Harvey Guillén and Rupert Friend.
The 1.19-minute-long trailer opens with the quote that says that this film is "a new kind of love story." It gives a glimpse into the twisted world that Sophie Thatcher is enchained in. She is a prisoner in Jack Quaid's house who is a mysterious individual, almost like a psychopath. Thatcher's character is fighting for survival, but is dragged into danger again and again. Towards the end, we see her back at the dinner table where she stares at Quaid and holds her hand over a candle's flame until her arm catches fire. The film promises an equal mix of romance, horror and thriller.
The film is produced by the filmmakers behind Barbarian—Raphael Margules, JD Lifshitz, Zach Cregger and Roy Lee. The executive producers are Tracy Rosenblum and Jamie Buckner.
Companion, a BoulderLight Pictures Production, is presented by New Line Cinema in association with Vertigo Entertainment.
Companion is all set to hit theatres on January 10, 2025.
