Colin Farrell will come back as detective John Sugar in another season of the Apple TV+ drama from showrunner Sam Catlin. Premiered this April, Sugar season 1 follows Farrell's private eye, who investigates the mysterious disappearance of Olivia Siegel, the beloved granddaughter of legendary Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel. When Sugar attempts to figure out the fate of the woman, he unearths recent and longheld secrets of the Siegel family. The first season ends with a big reveal that has set the tone for the second outing. In the second season, Sugar will look into the disappearance of another person in Los Angeles.

“It has been incredibly exciting to see audiences around the world embrace Sugar, and we are thrilled to return for a second season,” said executive producers Simon Kinberg and Audrey Chon. “We’re so grateful to our partners at Apple for their support, our showrunner Sam Catlin, the brilliant Colin Farrell, and of course, our viewers. We can’t wait to get John Sugar back on the case.”

Matt Cherniss, programming head at Apple TV+, added, “Since its premiere, audiences have been gripped by the mysteries and twists of Sugar, with an incredible performance by Colin Farrell at the center. Colin, Simon Kinberg, Audrey Chon and the entire team behind this series have brilliantly blended genres to create a compelling, can’t-miss series that keeps viewers guessing, and we cannot wait to see where Detective John Sugar finds himself in season two.”

Kirby, James Cromwell, Amy Ryan, Dennis Boutsikaris,  Anna Gunn, Sydney Chandler, Alex Hernandez, and Nate Corddry are also part of the Sugar season 1 cast. It is unknown whether they will come back for its second season.
