We had earlier reported that Henry Cavill will lead the live-action film Voltron, based on the Japanese animation series of the same name. Fresh casting announcements were made by the makers of the film that stars Cavill and Scottish actor Daniel Quinn-Toye.

The two actors will be joined by Brit singer Rita Ora, This Is Us actor Sterling K Brown, and Cruel Intentions actor John Kim in the film directed by Marshall Thurber.

The film is backed by World Events Productions, the production house behind Japanese science-fiction series Beast King GoLion and Kikou Kantai Dairugger XV. The aforesaid production house dubbed and edited it as a syndicated series, titled Voltron: Defender of the Universe. It is centred on some pilots who are part of the Robot Lions battalion, which runs automobiles that combine to make a robot called Voltron.

However, details regarding the plotline of the Cavill starrer are under wraps. Thurber has written the screenplay alongside Ellen Shanman.

Producers include Hidden Pictures' Todd Lieberman and World Events Productions’ Thurber and Bob Koplar, and David Hoberman of Hobie Films.
