Hugo Weaving confirmed at IFFI, Goa, that he will reprise his character of an intelligence officer turned mercenary in the fifth season of the Apple TV+ spy thriller Slow Horses. Production on the season, based on Mick Herron's novel London Rules, was wrapped earlier this year.
Premiered in 2022 with six episodes, the show charts the adventures of Gary Oldman’s Slough House boss Jackson Lamb and his relegated spy colleagues from the MI5. The show's cast also includes Jack Lowden, Christopher Chung, Jonathan Pryce, and Joanna Scanlan.
It bagged BAFTA nominations for actors Oldman and Lowden, as well as a Primetime Emmy for executive producer and writer Will Smith. Earlier this year, the makers renewed Slow Horses for a sixth season as well. Season five will revolve around Chung's character Roddy Ho and his girlfriend and a set of strange events in London as the spies try to determine the connection behind everything.
In the sixth season, Kristin Scott Thomas’s character Diana Taverner makes the spies involved in a game of revenge and retaliation, and they try to evade her. The upcoming sixth season is based on Herron’s books Slough House and Joe Country.
The fifth season is expected to be out next year, but the makers are yet to confirm it.
