The acclaimed CBS dramedy Elsbeth continues to draw star power for its second season, adding Sullivan Jones (Interior Chinatown), Ioan Gruffudd (Titanic), and Alan Ruck (Succession) to its cast. Season 2, which premiered on October 17, airs every Thursday at 10 p.m.
The series centers on Elsbeth Tascioni (played by Carrie Preston), a sharp yet unorthodox consent decree attorney who collaborates with the NYPD to catch New York’s elite criminals, employing her distinctive problem-solving skills. The character was first introduced in The Good Wife and its spin-off The Good Fight.
Jones joins as a recurring character, Cameron Clayden, a charismatic medical examiner in New York City. Gruffudd makes a guest appearance as Angus, a charming Scottish artist who accidentally witnesses a murder through one of his video art installations. This incident ties back to his small hometown in Scotland, sparking romantic tension between him and Elsbeth as they work together to unravel the mystery in a Valentine’s Day-themed episode.
Meanwhile, Ruck is set to portray twins Peter and Bill Henderson, both renowned figures in the hedge fund world despite their humble beginnings in Queens. Peter, the calculating CEO of Hepson Capital, contrasts sharply with his brother Bill, who left finance to pursue a life of spiritual fulfillment, even giving away his wealth. One or perhaps both of the twins could emerge as the key antagonist in their episode.
Produced by CBS Studios, Elsbeth is helmed by executive producers Robert King, Michelle King, Jonathan Tolins, Liz Glotzer, Erica Shelton Kodish, Bryan Goluboff, and Gail Barringer, with Tolins also serving as showrunner.
