Richard E Grant, Emily Mortimer, Charles Dance, Fiona Shaw, Tom Davis, and Weruche Opia have joined the cast of Netflix’s upcoming comedy Ladies First, starring Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike.
The film is being directed by Thea Sharrock (Me Before You, The Beautiful Game) with a screenplay penned by Katie Silberman (Set It Up, Booksmart), Cinco Paul (Schmigadoon!, Despicable Me), and Natalie Krinsky (The Broken Hearts Gallery).
Inspired by Eléonore Pourriat’s Je Ne Suis Pas Un Homme Facile, the story centres on a notorious womaniser who receives a harsh lesson when he finds himself in an alternate reality dominated by women. Matters take an unexpected turn when he crosses paths with a fiery female counterpart.
The original film is translated as I am Not an Easy Man in English and stars Vincent Elbaz and Marie-Sophie Ferdane in lead roles. It was released on Netflix in 2018.
The project is being produced by Liza Chasin through her 3dot Productions banner, along with Eleonore Dailly and Edouard de Lachomette. This film is part of Chasin’s ongoing collaboration with Netflix, where she has previously produced Lonely Planet starring Laura Dern and Liam Hemsworth and has the upcoming The Life List with Sofia Carson.
Grant is known for films like Saltburn, Gosford Park, The Player, and his Oscar-nominated performance in Can You Ever Forgive Me?. Mortimer, who co-wrote and stars in the upcoming untitled Noah Baumbach project for Netflix alongside George Clooney and Adam Sandler, was recently seen in Paddington in Peru—the third installment of the beloved series.
Charles Dance, widely recognised for his role as Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones, has also appeared in The Imitation Game, Gosford Park, The First Omen, The King’s Man, and Alien 3. Meanwhile, Fiona Shaw, is best known for her roles as Petunia Dursley in the Harry Potter films, Carolyn Martens in Killing Eve, and Maarva Andor in Andor.
