Lady Gaga joins the cast of second season of Jenna Ortega's Wednesday
Lady Gaga is reportedly set to star in the second season of Wednesday on Netflix. The singer's 2011 track 'Bloody Mary' from her Born This Way album recently gained renewed popularity after fans paired a sped-up version of the song with a viral clip of Jenna Ortega dancing in the series. However, specifics about Gaga's role and the extent of her involvement are still under wraps.
Filming for Season 2 of Wednesday began in Ireland in late April 2024. By August, during a promotional event for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Ortega mentioned in an interview with Extra that four episodes had already been filmed.
Jenna Ortega is set to reprise her lead role in the upcoming second season of Wednesday. Returning as series regulars are Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Ritchie Santiago. Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Hunter Doohan, Victor Dorobantu, Moosa Mostafa, and Georgie Farmer will also be back, along with guest stars Fred Armisen and Jamie McShane.
However, notably absent from the list is Percy Hynes White, who portrayed Xavier Thorpe in Season 1. White previously addressed allegations of sexual misconduct in 2023 on social media, categorically denying the accusations as false.
The new season introduces Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor as series regulars, while Steve Buscemi is confirmed to join the main cast. Additionally, Thandiwe Newton will appear as a guest star, alongside Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley, Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, and Joonas Suotamo.
The series, inspired by the Addams Family character Wednesday Addams, is the creation of Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, with Jenna Ortega taking on the titular role. The first season, which premiered in November 2022, concluded with Wednesday solving a series of brutal murders while preventing the destruction of Nevermore Academy.
As of now, details about the plot and release date for Season 2 remain under wraps.
This will be Gaga's latest venture into acting following her portrayal of Harley Quinn in Todd Phillips’ Joker: Folie à Deux, where she starred alongside Joaquin Phoenix. Her previous film credits include roles in House of Gucci (2021) and A Star Is Born (2018).
