After Republican candidate Donald Trump's thumping win in the recently concluded US Presidential Election, actor Eva Longoria has decided to move out of the "dystopian" United States.
Longoria said, according to The Hollywood Reporter, that among several reasons the election gave finality to her conviction. She added that Trump's win was not the shocking part but the fact that a "convicted criminal who spews so much hate could hold the highest office." She further remarked, "If he (Trump) keeps his promises, it's going to be a scary place."
Recalling that she lived her whole adult life in the US, she said she sensed the change in vibe even before the pandemic and the then COVID "pushed it over the edge." She further added, "Whether it’s the homelessness or the taxes, not that I want to shit on California—it just feels like this chapter in my life is done now.”
Acknowledging she is privileged and she can move out, Longoria adds, "I get to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren't so lucky. They're going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them."
The actor, who currently moves back and forth to Mexico and Spain with her husband Jose Baston and their six-year-old son Santiago, already doesn't frequent Los Angeles.
