The title for Cameron Diaz's upcoming film, a comedic thriller titled Back in Action, also seems to recognise the fact that the actor is making a comeback with it after a 11-year hiatus. Netflix has released a trailer for the Seth Gordon directorial, which reunites Diaz with Jamie Foxx, her co-star from her last film, 2014's Annie.

Diaz and Foxx star in the film as a married couple working as former CIA agents, Emily and Matt. A sudden exposure of their CIA identity forces them to abandon their suburban life and return to the field.

There is much action in the Back in Action trailer, including Diaz and Foxx's characters using a parachute to get out of a plummeting aeroplane and the latter using a flamethrower to burn thugs.

"We were operatives for the CIA," says Matt in the trailer, and his child asks him, "Like Jason Bourne?" Pat comes the reply from Matt: "Yes, but we remember stuff."

Kyle Chandler, Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, Jamie Demetriou, McKenna Roberts and Rylan Jackson are also part of the cast.

Gordon wrote the screenplay with Neighbors fame Brendan O’Brien.

The film marks Diaz's acting return after she decided to quit in 2014 to focus more on raising her children alongside her spouse Benji Madden. She also has a voice role in Shrek 5. On the other hand, the film marks Foxx's return to the limelight after his recent hospitalisation for a medical emergency. Foxx is set to talk about it in his upcoming standup special titled What Had Happened Was for Netflix.

Back in Action is slated for a January 17, 2025, release on Netflix.
