Guy Ritchie has enlisted an Oscar-winning actor and two Oscar-nominated stars for his upcoming film Wife and Dog. Benedict Cumberbatch, Rosamund Pike, and Anthony Hopkins have been cast in leading roles for the project. While the plot remains under wraps, the film is expected to explore the world of the British upper class, a theme Ritchie recently delved into with The Gentlemen film and TV series.

Ritchie wrote the screenplay and will produce the film alongside his long-time collaborator Ivan Atkinson (The GentlemenWrath of Man) and Black Bear’s John Friedberg (The Ministry of Ungentlemanly WarfareFerrari). Teddy Schwarzman and Michael Heimler from Black Bear will serve as executive producers.

Wife and Dog was introduced to buyers at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year and marks the third collaboration between Ritchie, Atkinson, and Black Bear, following The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and In the Grey. Principal photography is set to begin in February 2025 in the UK.

Known for his roles as Sherlock Holmes in Sherlock and Dr Steven Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Cumberbatch was last seen in the series, Eric. Coming up, he has The Roses, The Phoenician Scheme, and The Thing with Feathers

Pike's last outing was Saltburn. She is currently working on In the Grey, Now You See Me 3 and Hallow Road. She also recently executive-produced the Netflix series, 3 Body Problem. Last seen in Locked, Hopkins has Mary, and Eyes in the Trees in the pipeline.
