Singing sensation Shakira is set to come back as the voice of Gazelle in Zootopia 2. In a video, Shakira made the announcement during the Pixar panel at the expo D23 Brazil the other day.
"I’m here to announce some big news. Are you ready? Gazelle is returning to Zootopia 2," said Shakira in the announcement video, including a Zootopia clip featuring her rendering a song with tiger characters in the background. She added, "That’s right. Gazelle is back and she’s got a new look, a new song and, of course, new dance moves. Just wait until you see what she and her tiger dancers have been working on. I know you’re going to love it. That’s all I can share for now, but I look forward to seeing you all on my tour next year and I’ll see you at the movies next November."
Also returning for the film are Jason Bateman (fox Nick Wilde) and Ginnifer Goodwin (rabbit cop Judy Hopps). The new additions to the film include Ke Huy Quan as a snake whom Nick and Judy pursue and Fortune Feimster as a beaver who has a run-in with the law. The directors of the first film, Jared Bush and Byron Howard are also coming back to helm the sequel with the former's screenplay.
The official plotline reads, "In Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Zootopia 2, detectives Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman) find themselves on the twisting trail of a mysterious reptile who arrives in Zootopia and turns the mammal metropolis upside down. To crack the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover to unexpected new parts of town, where their growing partnership is tested like never before."
Zootopia 2 is slated for a November 26, 2025, release in theatres.
