A sixth instalment in the Ice Age franchise is in development, announced Disney and 20th Century Animation. The franchise's lead voice cast members, Ray Romano, Queen Latifah, John Leguizamo, Simon Pegg, and Denis Leary, have revealed through a video on X that they will return for Ice Age 6. The animation film is in production.
Ice Age kicked off the franchise in 2002, and its last instalment is 2016's Ice Age: Collision Course. Many short films and shows also feature the prehistoric creatures from the Ice Age franchise, and there is also a feature film spinoff titled The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild.
Disney is yet to announce a release date for the sixth film.
There have been major changes to the companies behind the franchise since the first film in it. In 2019, Disney acquired most of the film and TV operations of 21st Century Fox, thus owning the X-Men, The Simpsons, Alien, and Ice Age franchises. The upcoming Ice Age will mark the first from the franchise to release theatrically under Disney.
