Actor Jack Black takes on the role of Satan in the upcoming holiday comedy drama Dear Santa. Paramount+ has unveiled the first trailer where a 'Satan' arrives in front of a boy Liam and grants him three wishes.
According to the plot, the upcoming Paramount+ film follows a boy who still believes in Santa and, determined to prove to his friends that he's real, writes a letter to Father Christmas. However, a spelling error leads him to accidentally summon Satan (Black). The only catch with the three wishes is that Satan would claim Liam's soul once he makes all the wishes.
The film is directed by Bobby and Peter Farelly who have reunited after a long time. They are known for their work on their debut 1994 film Dumb and Dumber, starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels. The brothers have been separately involved with films such as Green Book and Ricky Stanicky. Ricky Blitt and Peter Farrelly have written the script from their story created with Dan Ewen. The project reunites Black with the Farrelly brothers for the first time since the 20th Century Fox comedy Shallow Hal (2001).
Apart from Jack Black, the film also stars Keegan-Michael Key, Brianne Howey, Hayes MacArthur, PJ Byrne, Jaden Carson Baker, Kai Cech and Austin Post.
Dear Santa is set to release on Paramount+ and Digital on November 25, 2024.
