Previously, we reported that production has been wrapped on Splitsville, a comedy from Neon and Topic Studios, directed by and starring Michael Angelo Covino of The Climb. Nicholas Braun (Succession), David Castañeda (The Umbrella Academy), and O-T Fagbenle (The Handmaid’s Tale) have now been announced as actors to round out the film's cast. Details about their roles are still under wraps. Previously announced cast members include Dakota Johnson, Adria Arjona, and Kyle Marvin, Covino’s collaborator from The Climb.
In Splitsville, Ashley (Arjona) requests a divorce, prompting Carey (Marvin) to seek support from his friends, Julie (Johnson) and Paul (Covino). He’s surprised to learn that the couple’s secret to happiness lies in an open marriage—until his own actions disrupt all of their relationships.
Splitsville is produced by Topic Studios and Neon, reuniting them after Infinity Pool, along with Covino, Marvin, and Emily Korteweg under their Watch This Ready banner. Johnson, Ro Donnelly, and Samantha Racanelli are producing for TeaTime Pictures, with Arjona and Paul Barbeau as executive producers. Neon plans to release the film domestically next year.
Nicholas Braun, a three-time Emmy nominee for Succession, also stars in Jason Reitman’s Saturday Night, portraying Andy Kaufman and Jim Henson. He’ll also appear in Amazon’s Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie and Ruben Östlund’s The Entertainment System Is Down.
David Castañeda, known as Diego Hargreeves on The Umbrella Academy, will star alongside Ana de Armas in Ballerina, the John Wick spin-off, premiering June 6, 2025. Other recent projects include Poker Face and The Guilty, and he will soon play the lead in Chalino, a biopic on the legendary Narcocorridos musician.
O-T Fagbenle, Emmy-nominated for his role in The Handmaid’s Tale, which concludes next season, has also starred in Presumed Innocent on Apple TV+. His upcoming projects include Netflix’s No Good Deed by Dead to Me creator Liz Feldman, premiering December 12.
