The Michael Jackson-biopic, which was supposed to be released on April 18, 2025, now has a new release date. Directed by Antoine Fuqua, Michael will now hit theatres on October 3, 2025.

Michael stars Jackson's nephew Jaafar Jackson as the titular character, with Colman Domingo, Nia Long, Miles Teller, Laura Harrier, Derek Luke, and Juliano Krue Valdi playing key roles. The screenplay for the film is written by John Logan, who is known for his work on GladiatorThe Aviator and Hugo.

Michael is expected to cover all aspects of Michael Jackson's life which will also include the launch of his record-breaking albums, concert tours around the world and allegations of child sexual abuse that have been made against him.

The film will be the first major movie role for 26-year-old Jaafar, who is the second-youngest son of Michael Jackson's older brother and Jackson 5 member Jermaine Jackson.

Jamal R Henderson, Jayden Harville, Tre Horton, Jaylen Lyndon Hunter, Rhyan Hill, Judah Edwards, Joseph David-Jones, Nathaniel Logan McIntyre, Larenz Tate, Kat Graham, Jessica Sula, Liv Symone, Kendrick Sampson, KeiLyn Durrel Jones, and Kevin Shinick round out the ensemble of Michael.

The project hails from producer Graham King, who earlier backed Bohemian Rhapsody which earned Rami Malek the Academy Award for best actor in a leading role. John Branca and John McClain are also credited as producers. Filmmaker Antoine Fuqua is known for launching the modern Equalizer franchise. He is also best known for helming Training Day, King Arthur, and Bullet Train.

Footage from Michael was screened at CinemaCon in April, where King said the film will include 30 songs and have a lengthy runtime in order to do justice to Jackson's story.

Michael Jackson is a renowned pop culture icon, commonly referred to as the 'King of Pop'. He popularised the moonwalk dance move, and holds 15 Grammy Awards, 39 Guinness World Records, and one Golden Globe Award, to name a few. He died in 2009, at the age of 50.
