Following his first Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for the final season of HBO's Succession, Alan Ruck has joined the star-studded cast supporting Marc Maron in In Memoriam, an upcoming comedy from Thelma producer Invention Studios. Details about Ruck's role are currently under wraps.
In Memoriam, written and directed by Rob Burnett (The Fundamentals of Caring), tells the story of a veteran Hollywood actor (played by Maron) who, after a terminal cancer diagnosis, becomes determined to secure a place in the Academy Awards' "In Memoriam" segment. The film explores themes of ego, humility, and legacy with heartfelt humor.
Previously announced cast members include Talia Ryder, Lily Gladstone, Sharon Stone, Judy Greer, Justin Long, and Michael McKean. The film will star Gladstone as the Hollywood actor's therapist and Stone as one of his former wives, with Judy Greer to play his other spouse.
In Memoriam, which began production in Los Angeles earlier this month, is produced by Invention Studios' Nicholas Weinstock and Divya D'Souza, alongside Maron, Burnett, and David Martin of Avalon.
Ruck, known for his portrayal of Connor Roy, the eldest yet often overlooked son in Succession, was part of the series' SAG Award-winning ensemble alongside actors like Jeremy Strong, Brian Cox, Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin, Matthew Macfadyen, and Nicholas Braun. Beyond Succession, his film credits include classics like Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Speed, and Twister. Recently, Ruck has appeared in Hulu’s The Dropout and Amazon’s legal drama The Burial. His upcoming projects include Wind River: Rising for Castle Rock Entertainment, and People We Meet on Vacation, a collaboration between Netflix and 3000 Pictures.
