Ridley Scott recently opened up that he is developing a new Alien film. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the acclaimed filmmaker who made the iconic 1979 film Alien, shared this news, but revealed no further details on it.

The news organisation published a profile on Scott and his Scott Free Productions on Thursday, including the 86-year-old’s current priorities. According to the article, Scott is "developing a new Alien movie for [20th Century Studios] in the wake of Romulus’ success."

It is still unknown if the film would be a direct sequel to the latest film Alien: Romulus or a sequel to his earlier films Prometheus and Alien: Covenant which explored the mythology behind the iconic xenomorphs. He might also touch upon something completely different from the earlier films for the dystopian sci-fi film.

Known for helming critically acclaimed films like Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, The Martian and House of Gucci, is currently awaiting the release of Gladiator II, the sequel to the epic historical action film which was released in 2000. It stars Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Connie Nielsen, and Denzel Washington. Nielsen and Derek Jacobi reprise their roles from the first film. The film hits Indian theatres on November 15.
