Earlier, we reported that Pedro Pascal might reunite with Thor star Chris Hemsworth in the film adaptation of Crime 101. While the project did not materialise with Pascal onboard, it is now being reported that Mark Ruffalo is in talks to star in the film. Reportedly, Hemsworth is also still in talks to star and produce alongside producing partner Ben Grayson.

Crime 101 is adapted from the eponymous novella from New York Times Best-Selling Author Don Winslow (The Border), and tells the story of a string of high-level jewel heists up and down the Pacific Coast Highway which has gone unsolved for years, mostly because the perpetrator has lived by a strict code he calls “Crime 101.”

The two major characters that appear in Crime 101 are Detective Lou Lubesnick and a lone-wolf jewel thief that he is hunting down. The adaptation is set to be directed by American Animals director Bart Layton who wrote the script with contributions from Peter Straughan.

The adaptation has been bagged by Amazon MGM Studio. Story Factory’s Shane Salerno, Working Title’s Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan, RAW’s Layton and Dimitri Doganis and Derrin Schlesinger are also producers of Crime 101
