Yorgos Lanthimos ropes in Emma Stone for his next Bugonia

Director Yorgos Lanthimos is reuniting with his regular Emma Stone for the consecutive fourth time, in his next alien conspiracy drama Bugonia.

The duo have previously worked in The Favourite (2018), Poor Things (2023), and Kinds of Kindness (2024), which premiered on Friday in this edition of the Cannes Film Festival.

Bugonia, which will also star Jesse Plemmons, follows two conspiracy-obsessed young men who kidnap a major company's CEO who is a powerful person as they are convinced that she is an alien who intends to destroy Earth. Will Tracy of the Succession and The Menu fame will work on the film's script.

Bugonia is based on the Save the Green Planet, a 2003 Korean film. The English adaptation is developed by Square Peg banner of director Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen, with Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe of Element Pictures, and Miky Lee and Jerry Kyoungboum Ko of the Korean banner CJ ENM. Actor Emma Stone will also be a part of this production team.
