The makers of Horizon: An American Saga, co-written and directed by and starring Kevin Costner, have dropped another trailer for the film the other day. The trailer gives a brief idea of the setting of the film, which seems to revolve around the concept of Westward Expansion in the Civil War era. It shows Costner's character Hayes Ellison going to a place known as Horizon, which potentially denotes the movement of outsiders to the west coast of North America. Costner named his character after his teenage son Hayes, who makes his acting debut in the film. Horizon: An American Saga also stars Sam Worthington, Sienna Miller, Jena Malone, Danny Huston, Tim Guinee, Scott Haze, among others.

Kevin Costner and Jon Baird co-wrote the film. It is produced by Danny Peykoff, Armyan Bernstein, Robert Scannell, Barry M Berg, Charlie Lyons, and Rod Lake. Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute the film, from production houses New Line Cinema and Territory Pictures.

Horizon: An American Saga marks Costner's return to the director's chair after 21 years. His last work as a director was 2003's Open Range, which was also a Western film.

Horizon: An American Saga will release as a two-chapter film. The first part will release on June 28 and the second on August 16 in theatres.
