Earlier this year, we reported about Happy Gilmore actor Christopher McDonald's revelation during an interview for Audacy’s 92.3 The Fan that a screenplay is being written for a second part of the 1996 film. Now, Netflix has confirmed that the sequel is definitely on during its recent presentation to marketers in New York. Plot details are kept under wraps, but Adam Sandler is set to reprise his titular role in the sequel as well. Sandler co-wrote and acted in director Dennis Dugan's 1996 original, which revolves around the actor's failed hockey player who finds out that he has a knack for golf and his grandmother confronting an eviction situation.

Happy Gilmore, which ranks among the best-known Adam Sandler films, earned almost $40 million from theatres worldwide.

On related news, Sandler will next be seen in Noah Baumbach's upcoming film, also starring George Clooney, Laura Dern, Billy Crudup, and Riley Keough.
