"War is coming, and neither of us may win," Rhaenyra Targaryen proclaims towards the end of the House of The Dragon season 2 trailer that was released by the makers on Monday. The official 2.29-minute-long trailer showcases House Green and Black preparing for a bloody brutal war to reclaim what is lost and seek revenge.
Rhaenyra and Aegon II, the current king of the seven kingdoms have raised their banners for a civil war. Rhaenyra says that she is left with no choice as Aegon has usurped her throne and House Green has killed her son. Rhaenyra and Alicent's friendship will be under the litmus test once again as Alicent asks Aegon to proceed cautiously in the war. Both the factions have taken sides and are setting up their ships and heavy machinery for the upcoming war. We also get a few scenes of Rhaenyra's son Jacaerys palling around with Cregan Stark in Winterfell.
House of the Dragon, which is the prequel to the hit series Game of Thrones, follows the events two centuries before the original. The ten episodes of the prequel's first season depicted how the House of Targaryen fell into a bitter and brutal civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons — presaging the beginning of the end of the ruling family of Westeros.
The series, created by authors George RR Martin and Ryan J Condal, based on Martin's novel Fire & Blood, stars an ensemble cast including Paddy Considine, Emmy D'Arcy, Matt Smith, Rhys Ifans, Olivia Cooke and Fabien Frankel. Previously announced newcomers are Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull, Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower, and Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong.
House of the Dragon has Ryan Condal as the co-runner of the series. The second season will premiere on the streamer on June 17, every Monday along with the U.S. on JioCinema Premium in India.
