Netflix renews Heartbreak High for third and final season

Netflix announced, on Friday, that their hit young-adult series, Heartbreak High, has been renewed for a third season, which will also be the series' finale. The second season of the series recently premiered on Netflix on April 11 and opened to positive reviews.

Heartbreak High features Ayesha Madon, Chloe Hayden, Thomas Weatherall, James Majoos, Asher Yasbincek, Will McDonald, Gemma Chua-Tran, Sherry-Lee Watson, Bryn Chapman Parish, Josh Heuston, Brodie Townsend, Chika Ikogwe and Rachel House as series regulars. Sam Rechner and Kartanya Maynard were added to the cast for season two. Netflix announced that the cast and crew will return for the final season as well.

Heartbreak High is a reimagination of a classic Australian TV show. The original show aired on Network Ten from 1994 to 1996. A few years later, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) aired a re-imagining of the program, with some funding from the BBC, between 1997 and 1999.

Heartbreak High, which chronicles the lives of kids and teachers in a multicultural Sydney school, is a spin-off of The Heartbreak Kid, a 1993 Australian film. That, in turn, stemmed from a theatre play performed in 1987. In September 2022, the first season of the rebooted series premiered. The second season was announced in October 2022, a month after the first.
