Actor Vin Diesel is officially returning to reprise his role as Richard B. Riddick in the fourth Riddick film titled Riddick: Furya. The film will be helmed by David Twohy who is returning to direct after helming and writing the previous three Riddick films.

Riddick: Furya follows 2000’s Pitch Black, 2004’s The Chronicles of Riddick and 2013’s Riddick. The fourth instalment will begin shooting in Germany, Spain, and the United Kingdom on August 26.

The film will see the interplanetary antihero return to his homeworld, Furya, which he barely remembers and suspects may now be little more than a planetary ghost town. However, once there, he meets a number of Furyans who are fighting for their lives against a horrific alien monster - and fighting horrific alien monsters is what Riddick does best. Along the way, he finds out he may have more in common with some of the Furyans than he suspects.

Diesel expressed his interest in returning to his dark sci-fi series with Universal Studios in 2014. The following year, Diesel shared a Facebook video of himself Twohy, saying he’d want the fourth Riddick film to examine "where it all started" with his titular character.

Diesel will produce under his One Race Films banner alongside Samantha Vincent. Thorsten Schumacher for Rocket Science and Lars Sylvest for Thank You Studios will also produce alongside Joe Neurauter.
