Sandra Huller and Willem Dafoe join hands for Late Fame

Oscar-nominated actors Sandra Huller and Willem Dafoe are set to feature together in the upcoming film Late Fame.

Kent Jones, who made his feature directorial debut with 2018's Diane, will helm the movie from a script by May December scribe Samy Burch.

Late Fame narrates the story of Ed Saxberger (Dafoe), who wrote a book of poetry a long time ago that no one ever cared about. When a group of young artists rediscover his work, he must reassess his genius.

The synopsis describes the film as “wickedly ironic and unexpectedly poignant” and explores the the “illusory effect of praise on the soul, and the lingering ghostly presence of the past, whether it’s imagined or vividly remembered.”

Jones has previously worked in the documentary Hitchcock/Truffaut, which premiered at Cannes in 2015. He also co-directed the film A Letter to Elia with Martin Scorsese. He is now involved in the series Saints with The Killers of The Flower Moon filmmaker and an upcoming adaptation of Shusaku Endo’s A Life of Jesus.

Dafoe has been nominated four times at the Oscars. He earned rave reviews for his performances in At Eternity's Gate, Platoon, Shadow Of The Vampire and The Florida Project. After collaborating with Yorgos Lanthimos in Poor Things, he will once again join hands with him in Kinds of Kindness. Other projects include Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Nosferatu, The Legend of Ochi and SNL 1975, among others.

Meanwhile, Huller's performance in Jonathan Glazer’s The Zone of Interest and Justine Triet’s Anatomy of a Fall put her on the spotlight and earned double recognition during the awards season.

Pamela Koffler and Christine Vachon will serve as producers for Killer Films. The film will start shooting in NYC in the fall. Other details regarding the film are yet to be revealed.
