Dexter star John Lithgow plays the titular character in filmmaker Sophie Hyde's upcoming feature Jimpa, also starring Olivia Colman in a lead role. Earlier tonight, Colman took to Instagram to share the first official image from the film that features her sharing an embrace with Lithgow.

Jimpa revolves around Colman's Hannah and her offspring, Aud Mason-Hyde's trans non-binary character, named Frances, paying a visit to their homosexual grandfather (Lithgow) in Amsterdam.

The film marks the debut of Aud Mason-Hyde, and it also stars Daniel Henshall, Kate Box, Eamon Farren, Cody Fern, Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Deborah Kennedy, Hans Kesting, Zoë Love Smith, Romana Vrede, Frank Sanders, and Jean Janssens.

Filmmaker Hyde is known for Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, the Daryl McCormack-Emma Thompson starrer that bagged multiple BAFTA nominations. Hyde is also helming a film about Oscar Wilde's spouse, Constance Lloyd.

Jimpa is yet to get a release date, but it will go to the Cannes Film Festival on the same week that a distributor buys it. Meanwhile, production on the film is underway in Amsterdam.

For the uninitiated, Lithgow is best known for playing a serial killer named Arthur Mitchell in the Michael C Hall starrer series Dexter and Sir Winston Churchill in The Crown. On the other hand, Colman's most popular works include The Crown, Broadchurch, The Favourite, and The Lost Daughter.
