Maria Bello and Nora Arnezeder have signed on to Hell in Paradise. The film is billed as a female-powered thriller, and it takes inspiration from a real story. The thriller is directed by Leila Sy from a screenplay by Karine Silla. Arnezeder and Bellow add to the existing cast of the film, which includes Josephine de la Baume, Shubahm Saraf, Ranjit Krishnama, and Alyy Khan. Virginie Besson-Silla of EuropaCorp is producing the film.

It follows a young woman named Nina as she leaves her home town, Marseille, for the Maldives to take up a job on the island as a luxurious hotel resort's receptionist. Calling it a “tense thriller," Besson-Silla said in an interview with Variety that the plot revolves around the character as she gets “caught in a web of lies, in a culture she knows nothing about, and she is surrounded by men who see her as an easy prey.”

Arnezeder is best known for The Famous Five and Bello's most popular title is A History of Violence. On the other hand, Leila Sy is best known as the co-director of the 2019 film Street Flow.
