Chris Evans, Anya Taylor-Joy and others to star in Romain Gavras' Sacrifice

Chris Evans, Anya Taylor-Joy, Salma Hayek Pinault, and Brendan Fraser to star in the upcoming film Sacrifice. Romain Gavras is directing the film and co-writing it with Will Arbery. The upcoming film will also have the same theme as his previous film Athena which premiered in Venice and was released on Netflix. The film has been described as a satire.

The story revolves around Mike Tyler, a film star and Joan, leader of a radical group of warriors. During a celebrity charity gala on a volcanic island, Joan kidnaps Mike and two other people as sacrificial offerings due to a prophecy with apocalyptic stakes. Chris is expected to play Mike while Anya is Joan.

The four stars agreed to join the film's cast within four days of receiving Gavras and Arbery's script. Arbery is a playwright and screenwriter who won the WGA Award for Succession. His play, Heroes of the Fourth Turning was a Pulitzer Prize finalist and Obie and Whiting Award winner. The casting process is set to continue and more actors are expected to join the cast. The filming for Sacrifice is expected to begin in September

Chris Evans is known for his roles in Captain AmericaKnives Out, and Red One. Anya Taylor-Joy is known for her roles in The Queen's Gambit, The Witch,  Split, and Thoroughbreds. Taylor-Joy is also set to appear at the Cannes Film Festival premiere of George Miller's Furiosa. Salma Hayek Pinault is known for her roles in Frida, Desperado, From Dusk Till Dawn, and Dogma. Brendan Fraser is known for his roles in George of the Jungle, Gods and Monsters, The Mummy and its sequel The Mummy Returns.
