Chris Evans, Anya Taylor-Joy, Salma Hayek Pinault, and Brendan Fraser to star in the upcoming film Sacrifice. Romain Gavras is directing the film and co-writing it with Will Arbery. The upcoming film will also have the same theme as his previous film Athena which premiered in Venice and was released on Netflix. The film has been described as a satire.
The story revolves around Mike Tyler, a film star and Joan, leader of a radical group of warriors. During a celebrity charity gala on a volcanic island, Joan kidnaps Mike and two other people as sacrificial offerings due to a prophecy with apocalyptic stakes. Chris is expected to play Mike while Anya is Joan.
The four stars agreed to join the film's cast within four days of receiving Gavras and Arbery's script. Arbery is a playwright and screenwriter who won the WGA Award for Succession. His play, Heroes of the Fourth Turning was a Pulitzer Prize finalist and Obie and Whiting Award winner. The casting process is set to continue and more actors are expected to join the cast. The filming for Sacrifice is expected to begin in September
