Actors Shawn Ashmore, Elizabeth Mitchell, Jessy Schram, and Garret Dillahunt are set to feature in filmmaker Kyle Kauwika Harris's psychological thriller The Huntsman. Based on Judith Sanders's novel The Huntsman, the film follows Ashmore's repressed nurse volunteering to read literature to Dillahunt's patient character, who is also the primary suspect in a series of murders. Mitchell plays the suspect's spouse, who believes in his innocence even as she grapples with the complex factors in the investigation. On the other hand, Schram plays a detective who is looking to put an end to the mystery at the heart of the story.
Scribe Steven Jon Whritner is adapting the novel for the screen. Whritner of Plymouth Rock Entertainment and Jacob Ryan Snovel of SafeHouse Films are producing the film, alongside Maddison Bullock and Nicholas Clement. On the other hand, Sanders, Malinoski, and Dillahunt are serving as its executive producers.
Dillahunt's next project is the Viggo Mortensen western titled The Dead Don’t Hurt. Mitchell has acted in series such as The Santa Clauses, The Expanse, Once Upon a Time and Lost, and Outer Banks, besides the film The Purge: Election Year. Presently starring on The Rookie on ABC, Ashmore’s other future projects include It Feeds and Just Breathe. On the other hand, Schram stars in Chicago Med, in addition to being part of shows such as Falling Skies and Nashville. Further, Schram has featured in films such as as Unstoppable and Shot Caller.
