Theatre and film actor Gemma Arterton, best known for Strawberry Fields in Quantum of Solace, will feature in Taking Over the Asylum maker David Blair's adventure thriller Storm Witch.
With screenplay from Tristan de Vere Cole, the film is being launced at the Marche du Film in Cannes later this month, with Myriad Pictures handling pre-sales.
Storm Witch is set in a small coastal community that is drawn to a mysterious woman (Arterton), whose relationship with John Tullock (Stuart Martin), who is pledged to marry Sinead (Chloe Pirrie) against his wishes, which could possibly divide the community already at the mercy of the inclement sea and merciless landowners.
Storm Witch will be filmed primarily in Ireland.
Apart from Gemma Arterton, Chloe Pierrie, and Stuart Martin, the rest of the cast includes Kate Dickie, Kevin McKidd and Steven Cree.
Myriad Pictures acquired rights for the thrilling feature from Galleon Films. Alice de Sousa of Galleon will produce with executive producers including Myriad’s Kirk D’Amico, alongside Blair and Andres Jauernick.
