Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas to be honoured with British knighthood and damehood

Producer Emma Thomas and her filmmaker husband Christopher Nolan are all set to be honoured with damehood and knighthood for the services they have done to cinema, reports The Associated Press. Their most recent work, Oppenheimer, bagged seven Academy Awards this year. The wins also include a Best Picture Oscar, marking the first time Nolan won an Academy Award in a non-craft category. 

The news regarding who will receive damehood and knighthood is usually announced on King Charles III’s birthday and at the start of the year, since the King confers the honours. However, the honours are sometimes conferred following special achievements, explaining why the director and producer of Oppenheimer are getting them a few days after their Oscar win.

University College London alumni, Thomas and Nolan operate a company called Syncopy that has produced several of their projects, including The Prestige, the Batman films, Tenet, and Interstellar.
