Rachel Sennott, known for Bottoms and Bodies Bodies Bodies, is all set to star in, write and executive produce a comedy pilot for HBO.
The series will have half-hour episodes, which will revolve around an interdependent friend gang who reunite and discover how their time apart, new relationships and ambitions have changed them.
The untitled series is executive produced by Sennott alongside Emma Barrie and Aida Rodgers. The series comes as a third after Lena Dunham and Issa Rae, two up-and-coming female comedy creators/performers, whose series became hits on HBO.
A student film Sennott starred in called Shiva Baby was turned into a full-length movie, with the actor reprising her lead role and even getting a credit as executive producer. This success opened doors for her in film, landing her starring roles in the comedic horror movie Bodies Bodies Bodies and the teen comedy Bottoms, which she co-wrote and also executive produced.
HBO seems to have noticed Sennott's talent early on. Her first television acting credit was on their comedy-drama series High Maintenance. Most recently, she had a recurring role on HBO's The Idol.
Sennott has also been active on television outside of HBO. She played a regular character on the 2021 ABC comedy series Call Your Mother. She collaborated with her good friend Ayo Edebiri on two projects for Comedy Central: Ayo and Rachel Are Single and Speak Up. They also starred together in Bottoms.
Coming up, Sennot has SNL 1975 in which she will be seen as Rosie Shuster.
