Oscars 2024: Emma Stone wins Best Actress for Poor Things

Emma Stone won the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in Yorgos Lanthimos' Poor Things. The win marks the actor's second Academy Award; her first one was for La La Land in 2017. Accepting her accolade, Emma extended her wishes to the presenters and her fellow nominees. "The women on the stage are all incredible, including the women in this category, Sandra, Annette, Carrie, and Lilly; it has been such an honour to do all this all together and let's keep doing more together," she said. 

On further adding her gratitude to the Poor Things team, Emma added, "The win is not just about me; it's about a team that came together to make something greater than the sum of its parts. And that is the best part about making movies. It's all of us together. And I am so deeply honoured to share this with every cast member, every crew member, with every single person who poured their love and, their care and their brilliance into the making of this film. And Yorgos, Thank you for the gift of a lifetime in Bella Baxter. I am forever thankful for you. Thank you for inviting all of us to be members of this team. Thank you!"

It is to be noted that apart from Emma's win, Poor Things won awards in three other categories: Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Production Design, and Best Costume Design.
