Director Christopher Nolan takes home the Best Director award at the 96th Academy Awards for his work in Oppenheimer. This is the first win for the director, he was earlier nominated under the same category for his 2017 film, Dunkirk.
In his Oscar acceptance speech, the director says, "Movies are just a little bit over a 100 years old. Imagine being there a hundred years into painting or theatre. We don't know where this incredible journey is going from here. But to think that I'm a meaningful part of it, means the world to me."
The list of Academy Award wins for Oppenheimer includes Robert Downey Jr for Best Supporting Actor, Jennifer Lame for Best Editing, Hoyte Van Hoytema for Best Cinematography, Ludwig Goransson for Best Original Score, Cillian Murphy for Best Actor, and Best Picture.
