Oscars 2024: Da’Vine Joy Randolph bags Best Supporting Actress Oscar for The Holdovers

The first award of the night goes to Da'vine Joy Randolph as she lifts the golden statuette for Best Supporting Actress for her work in The Holdovers. In the film, she played the role of Mary Lamb, a mother who manages a cafeteria at the Barton Academy who grieves the death of her son. This was the first Oscar nomination and win for Da'vine.

In her acceptance speech, Da'vine said, "God is so good. I didn't think I was supposed to be doing this film. I thank everyone who has supported me and guided me in my career."

Directed by Alexander Payne, The Holdovers stars Da'vine alongside Dominic Sessa and Paul Giamatti. It premiered at last year's Telluride Film Festival.

Also nominated in the category were America Ferrera for Barbie, Emily Blunt for Oppenheimer, Jodie Foster for Nyad, and Danielle Brooks for The Color Purple.

Randolph also bagged a BAFTA, Critics Choice award, and Golden Globe for her performance in the Alexander Payne film.
