Ghostbusters and Handmaid's Tale actor McKenna Grace is all set to star in and executive produce the upcoming psychological thriller Straight Lies. Backed by Mandalay Pictures, the film will be helmed by Alex Kalymnios. The filming is set to begin this Summer in North Carolina.

Set in 1990, Straight Lies is set around the hysteria of the war on drugs. The film, a semi-finalist in the prestigious Academy Nicholl Fellowship in screenwriting, is written by Ren Trella and inspired by incidents from her teenage years.

Falsely accused of drug abuse, a teen girl is held against her will in a cult-like drug rehab backed by the US government, which she must escape, in Straight Lies. Her father, a covert CIA agent is meanwhile so entangled in political influence that he is ignorant of the dangers his daughter is forced to face.

Straight Lies is bankrolled by Mandalay Pictures and Valor Media Group. With David Zelon backing the film for Mandalay, Grace is an executive producer.

Meanwhile, Grace is also known for I, Tonya, Malignant, Captain Marvel, etc. She currently awaits the release of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire which is set to hit theatres on March 22.
