Director Yorgos Lanthimos' next film Bugonia, starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons in the lead roles, has a release date. The distributor of the film, Focus Features announced that it would be released in US theatres on November 7, 2025. Universal Pictures will release the film in international theatres, except for in Korea, where the distribution rights vest with CJ ENM. Lanthimos is directing the film from a screenplay by Will Tracy. The plot follows the kidnapping of a big company's CEO by two men, who are obsessed with conspiracy and are certain that the former is an extraterrestrial being hellbent on destroying Earth. It is based on Save the Green Planet!, the Korean film from writer-director Jang Joon-Hwan.
Bugonia brings Lanthimos and Stone together after The Favourite, Poor Things, and Kinds of Kindness. It also reunites Lanthimos with Plemons and the latter with Stone after Kinds of Kindness, which is now running in US theatres. Lanthimos is also producing the film alongside Square Peg's Lars Knudsen and Ari Aster, Element Pictures' Andrew Lowe and Ed Guiney, Fruit Tree's Stone, as well as CJ ENM's Jerry Ko and Miky Lee.
Production on Bugonia is underway in London.
