It's official! Scarlett Johansson to headline Jurassic World 4

Weeks after it was reported that Scarlett Johansson is in talks to play the lead in filmmaker Gareth Edwards' Jurassic World 4, the actor has confirmed that she is indeed a part of the project.

Talking about the project, Johansson calls herself an "enormous Jurassic Park fan." Praising the first Jurassic Park film as "life-changing and mind-blowing," she says that the script is incredible and that she was trying to get into the franchise in any possible way for over a decade.

Scarlett Johansson will be joined by Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Rupert Friend, Mahershala Ali, Luna Blaise, and David Iacono.

Backed by Universal, the new film is set to have its script penned by David Koepp, the writer of Jurassic Park. Previously, David Leitch was roped in to helm the film, but he exited the project. Edwards was brought in as the director right after.

The yet-to-be-titled Jurassic World film is all set to be executive produced by Spielberg through Amblin Entertainment. The film franchise began in 1993, with Steven Spielberg helming the first project. The upcoming film will mark the seventh film in the franchise.

Meanwhile, Johansson, popularly known for her stint as Black Widow or Natasha Romanoff in the Marvel films, has Transformers One coming up, in which she has played a voice role. She also has a film co-starring Channing Tatum, which is slated to be released sometime this year.
