M Night Shyamalan's upcoming film Trap now has a new release date. The thriller film will now hit theatres on August 2 instead of the earlier announced date of August 9.
The Warner Bros-backed project stars Josh Hartnett, Saleka Shyamalan, Hayley Mills and Marnie McPhail. As per the logline, Trap follows a "father and teen daughter attending a pop concert, where they realize they’re at the center of a dark and sinister event."
The trailer of the film, which released back in April, showed Hartnett's character, who along with his daughter Jody are at a famous pop star's concert. As he leaves the auditorium to catch a break, he witnesses security arrangements being beefed up. Upon asking a person, he learns that the police have set a trap to nab a serial killer who has also come to attend the concert. The twist in the tale is that it is Hartnett who is the killer.
Interestingly, the pop star in Trap is played by the director’s second daughter, Saleka, a singer-songwriter who also wrote several songs for the film.
Warner Bros. also announced some additional release dates, including an untitled Atomic Monster/Blumhouse event film for April 17, 2026, an untitled Warner Bros. event film for March 26, 2027, an untitled WPBA/Locksmith film for July 23, 2027, and an untitled Warner Bros. Family sequel for December 17, 2027.
